Mount Pleasant, MI – As part of Pat Milbery’s Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp Tour, Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort hosted the 2010 Freeze X Fest in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Along with winter-time action sports events like freestyle snocross and AMA Ice Racing, 40 lucky snowboarders received 2 free days of fun and personal coaching from pro snowboarders Pat Milbery, Nick Visconti, and Scott Stevens.

The 2nd annual event drew snowboarders from all over Michigan, who came to compete and hang out with the pros. Other events included a Freestyle Snocross show from Jimmy Blaze and Gunnar Gapko, as well as a USASA rail jam and AMA Ice Racing.

“I can’t believe these guys came to Michigan! I’ve learned so much in just the past couple of days”, said Connor Metevier of Lansing.

Connor continued to say that, aside from hanging out with some of his favorite pro riders, he also received a bunch of free giveaway “swag” from companies like Skullcandy, Zumiez, Spacecraft, and Von Zipper; including a pair of new Von Zipper goggles that he said he “desperately needed”.

Other Mighty Midwest campers received prizes like an Arbor Snowboard, Capix Helmet, Go Pro camera, and more.

The United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) rail jam was a big hit as well. Competitors were surprised with the Pat Milbery signature rail jam course. As one rider put it, “these features are insane.” Many of the rail jam features were provided by the Otsego Club, where 12 Olympic teams are currently training for the upcoming Olympics.

When asked about the camp and his impression of Michigan snowboarding, Milbery said, “The Midwest is the Best! These are my roots, and to be able to travel to places like this and teach kids the fun aspects of snowboarding and this lifestyle… I just feel extremely lucky to have this opportunity.”

Pat went on to say that Soaring Eagle and promoter Baja Acres were extremely accommodating and welcomed Pat to be an integral part of building and organizing features for the event.

While the event was cut short with rain on Sunday, snowboarders and spectators alike said that the event was a huge success, and that they can’t wait to see what next year brings.
