9 Months of Snow is a story of a group of riders exploring winter playgrounds of Ruka & Pyhä ski resort areas in Finnish Lapland. As the name of the movie suggests, the ski season really is 9 months long. From the dark days of October, through magical Christmas time and midwinter, sunny & funny spring events till season ending jibbing sessions in June. The movie is full of beautiful winter sceneries, magical winter feeling and great riding.

The movie features Finland’s best freeskiers and snowboarders, including Antti Autti, AJ Kemppainen, Peetu Piiroinen, Matti Räty, Enni Rukajärvi, Matti Kinnunen, Miikka Hast and many local talents. The fact that these top riders spend a lot of time on the slopes of Ruka and Pyhä has made this project possible and guarantees the quality of riding.

This snowboard and freeski movie is produced by Flatlight Films and therefore filmed and edited by Miikka Niemi, whose previous projects include the Scrapbook snowboard documentary. A movie is a great way of promoting these areas as great and exotic skiing and snowboarding destinations, showing the viewer the true variety of the ski season in Ruka and Pyhä. The project is financed by KuusamoLapland international tourism project and Rukakeskus Ltd, the company behind the two ski resorts.

Both the ski resorts are located in northern Finland surrounded by pure nature and beautiful landscapes. The location of Ruka in the North-Eastern corner of Finland is ideal as the area is famous for its snowy winters and natural beauty. The venues at Ruka, including the park, pipe and moguls are world famous. Pyhä on the other hand is an authentic Lappish ski resort far enough from everything to be special. The off-piste landscapes at Pyhä attract off-piste skiers and riders year after year.

It´s all about winter!

Enjoy the movie and see you at Ruka&Pyhä!
