Boreal's July Shredfest

Posted on July 13 2010 at 10:52am by BINKY

Smokin and Boreal's Lane Knaack

Many of you wont believe this without photos, but yes, Boreal had an entire run of fun and shred filled with jibs and a couple lil booters for the weekend of July 10th and 11th. On Saturday I headed up to witness the show and over 500 kids showed up to rip the slope set up by Eric Rosenwald and the Boreal Terrain Park crew. At the tail end of the season this year Boreal decided to have a mid summer shred and figured they had enough snow to last. So they spent a week of pushing as much snow as possible to one run and low and behold... It lasted. And the kids came to shred. Here are a few shots of what went down.

Boreal Mountain Resort is flipping the switch on the Castle Peak Quad chairlift this weekend, July 10 & 11, 2010. A quality terrain park is going to be pushed out to build the summer shred stoked for all Northern California natives.

"A ton of snow fell late this season, with a few feet falling after Boreal closed," said Jon Slaughter, Marketing Director. "So our terrain park crew decided to push up massive piles of snow and hope they hold until July." The snow lasted and now a grooming cat has reemerged from the garage in July. The summer park crew, consisting of Eric Rosenwald and Lane Knaack,
have been drooling over the massive snow mounds just waiting to build a summer "shred" park.

Smokin Snowboards Pool Party Part Deuce at Boreal

The final weekend of Boreal being open brought the Smokin Pool Party Part Deuce to the Boreal Terrain Park last weekend, and it turned out to be a splash. Brought to you by the Truckee Horticulture Center, a bunch of kids came out to show their stuff and make their way around the custom setup built by Eric Rosenwald and the Boreal terrain park crew. With the Dance floor to road gap as well as a lift tower tube ride to gap, all into the beefy bowl setup with the dual hip entry and features along a bowled spine. Needless to say the crew at Boreal went all out, we had a banger time and gave away a ton of cash and even more prizes from Skull Candy, Volcom, Neff, Jus Liv, DVS, Matix, Electric, Truckee Horticulture Center, Air Blaster, One Ball Jay, Bond Clothing, Flux Bindings, Spacecraft, Smokin Snowboards, Fydelity Speaker Bags, 32, and more. With a $1000 bucks up for grabs including the Truckee Horticulture Center's "Dopest Plant" for a hundred bucks it was a great way to end the season up at Boreal. Check out the pics from the event and next year plan on the Smokin Pool Party for the last weekend on the hill.

Well after some super cold days and a few snowy nights, Boreal re-opened on Friday with a sick early season park for all of Truckee to shred. Tons of kids showed up for the 10 jibs, 6 jumps and 4 nollie rollers on nearly 9 million gallons of blown snow. Using only 18 guns Boreal was able to get a full run of jibs and jumps up for the halloween weekend. We went up early and took some photos of the festivities. There were some big names and big moves going down up there. Took some runs with Forum's Niko Cioffi, Luke Mitrani, Lane Knaack, the Smokin Snowboards team, and the hardest working shredder in the game, Chas Guldemond.

VOTE NOW!

Its that time of season again and with a bit of favorable weather the great people at Boreal came up with something different for this years JPI5. Instead of doing a pro contest, they decided to let the public come out and enjoy a full run of jibs and earn some cash while shredding Boreal early season. So they decided to give $2000 in 20 dollar bills away and also do a $2000 Fuel TV video contest, where 17 teams of 3 riders and a filmer/editor competed against other skiers and snowboarders in a video competition where the standout rider in the winning video team gets 2 Southwest Airlines tickets.
