Well after some super cold days and a few snowy nights, Boreal re-opened on Friday with a sick early season park for all of Truckee to shred. Tons of kids showed up for the 10 jibs, 6 jumps and 4 nollie rollers on nearly 9 million gallons of blown snow. Using only 18 guns Boreal was able to get a full run of jibs and jumps up for the halloween weekend. We went up early and took some photos of the festivities. There were some big names and big moves going down up there. Took some runs with Forum's Niko Cioffi, Luke Mitrani, Lane Knaack, the Smokin Snowboards team, and the hardest working shredder in the game, Chas Guldemond.

VOTE NOW!

Its that time of season again and with a bit of favorable weather the great people at Boreal came up with something different for this years JPI5. Instead of doing a pro contest, they decided to let the public come out and enjoy a full run of jibs and earn some cash while shredding Boreal early season. So they decided to give $2000 in 20 dollar bills away and also do a $2000 Fuel TV video contest, where 17 teams of 3 riders and a filmer/editor competed against other skiers and snowboarders in a video competition where the standout rider in the winning video team gets 2 Southwest Airlines tickets.

Team Video Challenge Details Announced

Donner Summit, CA, (September 30, 2009) – Boreal Mountain Resort will host the 5th Annual Jibassic Public Invitational on an undetermined date. What is determined is that the public will be throwing down for cash this year instead of the pros. The two-pronged event will feature a public jib arena contest and a Team Video Challenge. The new format will place over $4,000 cash into the public’s hands plus allow skiers and snowboarders an early shred for the 2009/2010 season.

Hip Cutter

Posted on September 19 2009 at 06:17pm by mudflap

Oh man has this been a long time coming. After a few bumps in the road, I’m super stoked to announce that fabrication on the BHC (Boreal Hip Cutter) is finally complete. No more tinkering with the design, no more re-engineering, no more bugs to work out..it’s done…done, done, done. Just in time too for it’s dedicated snow cat to roll out of the shop from it’s summer service any day now. The cutter is ready for a fresh coat of paint and then about a days worth of bolting back on the original cutters, chain and sprockets.
