Jump in the Fire—The Legendary World Quarters Posted on March 30 2009 at 08:37pm by spleen
Words: Jeff Baker / Photos by Jeff Baker, Laura Austin and Ryan Runke What happens when you take some of the east coast finest riders, mix in 1500 TB’s (Tall Boy Pabst Blue Ribbons), 150 bottles vodka, 50 gallons diesel, illegal fireworks, poor judgment and one lawless private resort…the Legendary World Quarters. The last bit of advice I got from Ryan Runke (Rome Snowboards Marketing Manager) before I arrived at the famed World Quarters was, “be sure to make your last phone calls before you get to the “resort” cause we’ll be in the middle of nowhere...and I’m talkin’ some serious back woods shit.” Having been to the World Quarters in the past, I took Runke’s advise, called my wife, told her I loved her and that I may not be coming home...ever again!
Queenstown Winter Festival Wraps Up Posted on July 18 2005 at 07:16am by spleen
The next Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival takes place from July 1 to July 10, 2005. Big Air and Fast Ducks Mark the Final Day of Festival Fun Last night’s finale of the BP Ultimate Air snowboard and ski jump competition, hosted at Coronet Peak, was a gripping conclusion to the 31st Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival. With a hip hop soundtrack from DJ Endo blasting out across the mountain, huge crowds gathered to cheer their support for a record field of 70 competitors who pulled trick after trick in their attempts to bag one of the top cash prizes of $1,000 and a magnum of Lindauer champagne. |
