Today we hiked into the Mayflower Gulch basin near Leadville, CO. A huge spring storm is currently hitting the west coast and forecast is calling for major snow. Reports from Mammoth are blizzard like condtions, (thanks Scott ) so we knew we only had a small window to get some runs in before the storm. Mt. Today we climbed to the top of Quandry Peak in Colorado at breathtaking 14,256 feet. Our goal was to get a snowboard descent on one of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks. Loveland Ski area hosted the final stop of the 2010 Tall Tees & Tacos slopestyle contest. Skiers and riders from around the state came out to show there stuff on Lovelands fun park setup. Kickers, rails, boxes and even a tire were available for the athletes to show of there tricks. Sponsors included: Never Summer Snowboards, Wahoo's Fish Tacos, and Hestra Gloves. The 7th Annual Malay Day took place at Beaver Creek, CO under bluebird skies and temps hovering around 50 degrees. The event celebrates the life of our good friend and local Beaver Creek rider Josh Malay who passed away snowboarding 7 years ago. Hundreds of people came out from across the country, kids from Mammoth all the way to Stratton showed there support by crushing all the park and pipe features. |
